Dear girl who bought our ipad, you're awesome...and you're our excuse to spend even more money upgrading to the new ipad. And your dreads are amazing. The end.
Dear Cathay Pacific, thanks for designing your flight itineraries to look like they were hand typed on the world's first typewriter. They're just so easy to read. So easy, in fact, THAT I THOUGHT MY BEST FRIEND WAS COMING A DAY EARLIER THAN SHE IS. Can you sense the disappointment and anger in my voice, or did you think my caps lock just got stuck? Either way, I hate you.
Dear anyone-who'll-listen, can you believe that in exactly one week, I'll be embarking on 7-weeks of travel, before returning to the US!??! I'm so darn excited and impatient.
Dear readers, would you be so kind as to give me book recommendations? I hope to read lots of books during our upcoming travels. I have a couple on my list, but could use a few more. In exchange, I'll give you a book recommendation.
Yes, that's 4.5 stars with over 1,400 reviews. It's that good. If you've done a lot of fiction reading, you start to look for certain things--certain ways of writing, certain plot lines, certain character traits. This book truly breaks the mold when it comes to writing style and plot development. It actually takes a few chapters to adjust to, and from there you'll slowly feel more attached to the characters, and, eventually, by the end, it will simply knock your socks off. And, if you're anything like me, you might sob uncontrollably. I'm talking shoulder heaving sobs...soaked the sheets with tears and have to get out of bed to find kleenex sobs. But seriously, read it.
Have an awesome weekend, lovelies.
Any exciting plans?
LOVED the Book Thief! It was so good! Hope you have a great Memorial day weekend!
ReplyDeleteJust stopping over from Confessions of A Graphic Design Student to say HI!
ReplyDeleteWHAT THE WHAT!
ReplyDeleteONE WEEK?!
That is so incredibly exciting :)
Like I can't even sit still in my chair thinking about how awesome it's going to be for you!
And that's gonna be the next book that I read...woot!
LOVE LOVE :)
The Book Thief was so good. I loved how he developed the character of Death, and how he was neither good nor bad.
ReplyDeleteUmm.. my recommendation is: Cane River by Lalita Tademy. It's a generational book following a group of women (slave & white) before/during/after the civil war.
Yay for your exciting trip coming up!
ReplyDeleteAs for book recommendations, I am a huge memoir fan. Anything by Augusten Burroughs (like Running with Scissors) or Jen Lancaster (like Such a Pretty Fat).
Hi emmy! Stopping by from Kristens site :)

A great travel book is Backpack by Emily Barr. I read it when I was kicking around Europe and it was great! Happy travels!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this book quite a bit, also. It was easy to read and evoked so many emotions!
ReplyDeleteI really want to read this book! I just finished Water for Elephants. It was the best book I have read in a long time. I am still thinking about it! Also loved The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks and The Hunger Games if you havent read it yet!
ReplyDeleteI'm here from Kristen's blog.
ReplyDeleteBUT I'm not just here for the coffee. You had me when you said that there is no better place than home. I think that about my HOME (tennessee).
And i'm pretty excited to read about your traveling adventures before you return to the U.S.
Oh book recommendations: divergent. (it's a trilogy, part 3 comes out next yr though). Umm, water for elephants, the help, the hunger games (they were really good if you haven't read them. Better than the movie. More in depth)... I had more but my brain just decided to stop working. It happens from time to time :p
7 weeks-you lucky thing!
ReplyDeleteuhh-though-sorry-but I hated the Book Thief. So am not sure if I have any suitable recommendations-I really enjoyed If God was a Rabbit-recently. check out some reviews on my blog if you can
7 weeks. That is just so great. Sorry your friend is coming a day later. I think the all caps was warranted. Thanks for the book suggestion. I'm always looking for a good read. I'll have to think about if there are any to recommend back. I always do a lot of james Patterson and Mary higgins Clark. Easy reads that move quickly. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI wrote about your blog and linked back to you. Go check out why you are one of my favorite blogs to read.

The Book Thief is one of my all time favorite books!! Some recommendations? - The Glass Castle, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (I didn't enjoy the movie but definitely enjoyed the book!!), The Road (depressing but interesting), Shutter Island if you didn't see the movie, White Oleander. Those have been my favorite reads in the last year!
ReplyDeleteI loved The Book Thief! I read A LOT haha, so it might be easier for you to just look at my Goodreads list and see what I gave five stars to:

But, if you tell me what kind of books you like, I'd love to give you some specific titles to consider!
Book Thief was an alternate for June YA Book Club - so I will most likely be reading it this month :) It sounds really good!
